Youth Beef Cattle

Release: Thursday, Sept 26by 10AM

Rules:

  1. All exhibitors of cattle are to be 4H Club, FFA members or students 20 and under. 

  2. All cattle exhibited must be the property of 4H or FFA member or student 20 and under, and must have been fed and cared for by the exhibitor. Any questionable entry will be ruled on by Fair Manager. 

  3. Exhibitors are limited to one entry in each class.

  4. Each exhibitor will exhibit his own animal in the show ring.

  5. All beef cattle must arrive Tuesday Sept 24 between 10AM-4PM. Beef cattle show Tuesday Sept 24 at 6:30PM. All beef cattle must leave Thursday Sept 26 by 10AM.

  6. Fair associates will not feed, water, or clean up after Beef Cattle. It will be the responsibility of the exhibitor. 

  7. Liability for all animals exhibited shall rest with the owners of the animals. 

  8. No animal shall be removed from the fair without the official authorization of the Fair Manager.

  9. If Beef Cattle are not picked up by the release end time, they become the Five County Fair's Property.

  10. All cattle entered shall be halter broke and exercised, shown and paraded as directed by the advisor.

  11. Each class shall be judged in order of their excellence of type, conformation and quality. Judges are requested to give reasons for placings.

  12. Only one attendant’s pass will be allowed to each exhibitor of Beef Cattle.

  13. Animals from quarantined herds will not be permitted to enter the Fair.

  14. Animals must be in good health and condition to enter the Fair.

  15. If sufficient number of animals are exhibited, it will be up to the discretion of the advisor to divide registered and grade animals.

  16. Entries of all live stock must be submitted to appropriate advisor. (Use Enclosed Form)

  17. Cattle must be fed and watered at appropriate times by the exhibitor. At no time are feed and water containers to be left in stalls with animal.

  18. To encourage exhibitors to display their cattle to the general public in an orderly fashion there will be a herdsman award given for the Youth Beef Cattle. Your display will be judged on cleanliness of tack area, cattle, equipment, and bedding. A panel of judges will be judging the entire time that your cattle will be there. The winners will be announced one hour before the Youth Beef Cattle are released.

  19. Shorthorns may be shown as dairy or beef, NOT BOTH.

  20. Beef Bulls: Bull entries may be submitted for the youth beef show. All such entries are subject to the approval of the show committee. No bull over 1 year of age will be allowed in the showing without a nose lead. There will be no dairy bulls shown at this show.

  21. Beef steers: Registered or crossbred feeder/market steers of breeding may be shown. Minimum feeder calf weight is 300lbs. and no visible horns. Classes will be made up after entries are received. Steers will be assigned classes by weight. A Maximum of three classes of steers may be assigned.  Steers no older than 24 months of age the day of show.

  22. Dairy steers: Registered or crossbred feeder/market steers of breeding may be shown. Minimum feeder calf weight is 400lbs. and no visible horns. Classes will be made up after entries are received. Steers will be assigned classes by weight. A Maximum of three classes of steers may be assigned. Dairy steers will be shown in the beef show.  Steers no older than 24 months of age the day of show.

  23. Prizes will be awarded only if the exhibit is worthy, even though there is only one entry in a class. The degree of the prizes will be determined solely by the judges.

  24. The Fair Association will do all in its power to prevent injury, loss, or damage to all exhibits; but the FAIR ASSOCIATION does not assume liability in case of such injury, loss, or damage.

  25. The decision of the judge is final.

  26. Protest of any entry will go to the Protest committee for final decision. Committee members are: Bobby Long, Mary Beth Geesaman and Auburn Estes.

  27. If, in the opinion of the Fair Committee, an exhibitor willfully violates the rules governing the fair, all premiums won will be forfeited.
