
Sunshine Showmanship Class

Introduction: The Sunshine Class is a unique showmanship class designed for special needs youth, providing them with an opportunity to showcase their skills and bond with animals in a supportive environment. This class will focus on using sheep/goats due to their manageable size and the positive impact they have on participants.
Eligibility: Open to middle and high school aged youth. Limited to the first 40 youth who sign up. Free to participate.
Registration: Participants must register through the Five County Fair website (goggle form link below). Registration will be open from 09/03/2025 to 09/19/2025.
Program Details: Classes will be held at the Five County Fair. Participants will be paired with sheep/goats that a youth is willing to let them show. Animal owner will “mentor” the youth showing the animal in the ring. The event will culminate in a showmanship competition where participants can demonstrate their skills and is NOT JUDGED
Rules and Regulations
The Sunshine Showmanship class is for exhibitors with exceptional needs.

Entrants must be recommended by and Extension agent, FFA advisor, or special education teacher.

All participants in the Sunshine Class must be 4-H club, FFA member or students 20 and under and live within the five counties (Appomattox, Buckingham, Charlotte, Cumberland or Prince Edward).

Entrants will sign up for the Sunshine Showmanship class via the goggle form below.

All entries must be received on or before September 19, 2025.

Each exhibitor in the class will be paired with a registered sheep/goat exhibitor or individual deemed acceptable by the sheep and goat chairperson.

Participants should arrive at the Five County Fair grounds at 5:00 pm on Friday September 26, 2025.

There is no entry fee for Sunshine Showmanship participants.

This is a non-competitive class and all participants will receive recognition / prize / ribbon awards.
